After fighting earthquakes in “San Andreas,” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is moving onto something he can get his hands on. Johnson is teaming once again with “San Andreas” producer Beau Flynn on a live action adaptation of the 1986 arcade game “Rampage.”
The news comes from Deadline, who says the movie will begin production in summer 2016, with a script by Ryan Engle (“Non-Stop”).
The adaption will be quite a change from the video game, as “Rampage” didn’t actually feature any prominent human characters. Instead it was about three monsters — a gorilla, a lizard and a wolf — terrorizing a city and smashing buildings to the ground. According to Deadline, in the movie Johnson will be tasked with standing up against the monsters.
There is no announced release date for the film.
