Kirstie Alley didn’t turn in the most memorable performance on tonight’s (Sept. 24) premiere of “Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars,” but no one will forget the big fat kiss she planted on host Tom Bergeron.
“He won that Emmy, he needed to be rewarded,” she explained backstage after the show. (Bergeron picked up a reality-show hosting trophy at Sunday night’s awards show.)
His surprise at the kiss — which seemed to go on forever — was genuine, Alley confirmed.
“You have to take these opportunities and go in for the kill,” she said.
“What are they gonna do, fire her?” chimed in her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, with whom the actress has reteamed after finishing second in Season 12.
When we asked Alley — who’s won two Emmys herself — whether Bergeron kissed her back, she quipped: “He totally had his tongue down my throat. I was like, Tom, hold up, dude, hold up…he sort of wanted it.”
Maybe he did: “Winning an Emmy certainly has its perks!” Bergeron tweeted after the show with a picture of the famous smooch.
Here’s hoping Alley won’t have to kiss Bergeron goodbye after Tuesday’s results show: her foxtrot garnered the second-lowest score of the night — 19 out of 30 — between Pamela Anderson and Tristan McManus‘ 17 and Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas‘ 19.5.
