edward norton hosts saturday night live Edward Norton hosts 'Saturday Night Live': How did he do?

Edward Norton hosted “Saturday Night Live” for the first time on Saturday (Oct. 26). So how did the actor fare?

Norton’s monologue was not his finest moment. After Alec Baldwin made a surprise cameo to test Norton’s impressions — he actually pulled off a believable Ian McKellen, Woody Allen, and Woody HarrelsonMiley Cyrus walked on to completely upstage Norton. The singer made an announcement to all her fans revealing she would be going on tour in 2014. Unfortunately for Norton, that’s all anyone will remember from the monologue. Why didn’t Cyrus announce her tour during her own stint as host and musical guest this season?

Other than his monologue, Norton pulled off some great and some not-so-great characters in later sketches. His Owen Wilson impression during a Wes Anderson horror movie parody was spot on, while his soft-spoken Canadian straight man to Jay Pharoah’s loud, oblivious recently-freed slave in the “12 Years a Slave” parody fell a little flat.

One of the most unexpected highlights of the night was a bizarre, extremely random bit where Norton played a father going through his Halloween candy bucket, listing off the weird things he was going to hand out to children. Some memorable quotes that left us shaking with laughter:

– “What would I do for a Klondike bar? I’d suck anything you put in front of me, I’m serious I don’t even care I loooove Klondike bars.”

— “This is the movie ‘Cars 2,’ but when you open and look inside, no DVD. Now who’s in control?!?”

— To his son: “What happened Diego?”

   “I got teepeed!”

“He is just one big hot mess.”

— “These are razor blades but they’re still in the pack so this time, they’ll have to arrest me for generosity.”
