Ellen DeGeneres is still holding out hope she’ll get an invite to the Royal wedding in April. And her chances just rose considerably, as she was revealed to be a cousin (albeit distant) to bride-to-be Kate Middleton.

On Friday’s (Feb. 11) “The Ellen Show,” Ellen reads a certified letter from New England Historic Genealogical Society, which says:

“Dear Ellen,

Our trusty genealogists have been at work on Kate Middleton’s genealogy,
with the big Royal wedding coming up.  As we were doing the research,
we discovered that you are related to Kate via a man named Sir Thomas
Fairfax and his wife Agnes Gascoigne. You are distant cousins – 15th –
but cousins still the same.

Tom Champoux from The New England Historic Genealogical Society”

Ellen says, “Between the Packers winning the Super Bowl and this, I’m having a good week. Kate! Cuz! Let me know where you’re registered, first of all, because I have a Target and Pier One real, real close to my house. And let me know if you need me to plan the bachelorette party, because I found some straws shaped like … well, nevermind.”

We hope you get to go, Ellen.
