emeli sande breaks beatles record Emeli Sande tops Beatles record of most consecutive weeks in British Top 10Another Beatles record has been toppled in the world of music. Scottish musician Emeli Sande‘s debut album, “Our Version of Events,” just broke the record held by Beatles’ album “Please Please Me” for most consecutive weeks in the British Top 10, the Official Charts Company announced Sunday (April 28).

“Our Version” has been in the Top 10 the past 63 weeks, which if you’re keeping score at home, takes it back to February 2012. “Please Please Me” was in the Top 10 for 62 weeks back in 1963-64.

“I’m completely lost for words and this is something I could only have dreamed of,” Sande tells Official Charts. “The Beatles are the greatest band of all time and their legacy lives on and continues to inspire all of us that make music.”

“I’m so happy that so many people have connected with the stories and the songs on the record, this really is our version of events now,” she continues. “I’d like to say thank you to everyone that has bought, played or shared my music in the last year, without your support this would never have been possible.”

“Our Version of Events” peaked at no. 1 in both the U.K. and Ireland. It reached no. 3 in Belgium and no. 5 in Finland, but only no. 28 on the charts in the U.S.
