emmys 2014 outstanding drama series Emmys 2014: What should win Outstanding Drama Series? The 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards race for Outstanding Drama Series highlights some of the best television had to offer in the past year. And while many of the shows nominated are deserving of taking home the hardware, it really comes down to a two-show race.

The big question is will Emmy voters want to honor the final season of “Breaking Bad” or the premiere season of “True Detective”?

“True Detective,” despite following the anthology series format, has submitted itself in the best drama race, and it’s the only nominee that might keep “Breaking Bad” from winning its second award in this category.

“Breaking Bad” has been nominated for best drama every season except its first season, though it only won the award in 2013. It will be interesting to see if Emmy voters want to honor it one last time, or if they choose to look towards the trendy new kid on the block in HBO’s Matthew McConaughey/Woody Harrelson crime drama.

Fellow nominees “Downton Abbey,” “Game of Thrones,” “House of Cards” and “Mad Men” should all feel good about being nominated, but we would be shocked if any of them walk away with a win.
