]]>The Dish Rag very early Thursday (July
8). “I wondered how he found out it was my birthday.” Then she
heard the words “Emmy” and “Supporting Actress.”
When we spoke with her, she hadn’t had time to call anyone, not even
her TV husband Ed O’Neil, who wasn’t nominated (Boo! He submitted himself as
a supporting actor) or her castmates Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse
Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, who all got best supporting acting nods.
Asked what she thought contributed to the show’s 14 Emmy nods — including one for outstanding comedy — she
explained that it’s “a combination of things that happened. We have
amazing writers and we have a great cast, we love each other and we
have so much chemistry.” But she adds that it’s also “a lot of luck.”
She says she may bring her teenage son to the Emmys. And what about a designer gown for the show?
“I still have time, I have
one month.” she says, admitting that dress hunting isn’t really that
much fun because “I have a difficult body shape so it’s hard to find a
dress that fits perfectly.”
Please, do not stress about the dress. In fact, you could just wear this knockout low-cut royal blue number again and you’d be juuust fine.
