enlisted canceled fox 'Enlisted,' 'Dads,' 'Surviving Jack' and 'Rake' all canceled at FOXFOX has canceled three first-year comedies — “Enlisted,” “Dads” and “Surviving Jack” — along with low-rated first-year drama “Rake.”
The network has also decided not to pick up comedy pilots “Dead Boss,” “Fatrick” and “No Place Like Home.”

All four of the freshman shows drew modest (at best) ratings. “Enlisted” had heavy critical praise on its side, but that wasn’t enough to earn it more episodes. “Surviving Jack” never really got out of the gate, and though there had been some rumblings about “Dads” possibly getting a second season, that turned out not to be the case.

“Rake,” meanwhile, got off to a slow start on Thursday nights and then was bounced to Friday and eventually the dead zone of Saturday.

“Enlisted” creator Kevin Biegel shared the news about his show via Twitter Wednesday (May 7), expressing thanks to all those who championed show about three brothers (Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell and Parker Young) serving together on a small Army base.

“Well guys, we fought as hard as we could – all of us – but #Enlisted isn’t going forward at Fox,” Biegel writes. “Thank you from all of us for your amazing display of support, love and for giving us a chance. This has been the most satisfying thing I’ve ever worked on, and a large part of that – hell, I’ll even say a c***ton of it – was because of you. This show will continue to be shared for a long time. Good feeling.”

FOX has already picked up several new dramas and comedies “Last Man on Earth,” “Weird Loners” and “Mulaney” to series for next season. Two others, “Cabot College” and “Sober Companion,” remain in contention. FOX will announce its 2014-15 schedule Monday (May 12).
