tvfash814 Evan Lawson (Paulo Costanzo) from 'Royal Pains'

It takes a man with style to know that a navy blazer and pressed slacks are not the answer to all of life’s fashion questions. Evan Lawson (Paulo Costanzo) of USA Network’s “Royal Pains” is that man.
Costanzo describes his character as “playful, spirited, funny, boyish, charming, somewhat insecure, lovable, ambitious, entrepreneurial, sweet and without a clue.”
All of which somehow translates into an extensive wardrobe for a man who cares about clothes.
Costume designer Caroline Duncan sees Evan as “colorful. He is a risk taker. He is confident, and he is very fashion-conscious. And he definitely dresses the part, so if we are going golfing, we are doing it up to the nines. We have a special pair of shorts that he would wear to the golf course that he wouldn’t wear to the country club. He does that for everything.”

Duncan shops for Evan at Barneys, Bloomingdales, Gant, Urban Outfitters, H&M and Topshop.
“Paulo is built like a hanger, built for a very fashion-forward brand,” Duncan says. “He can transform less expensive clothing.”

Since “Royal Pains” takes place in the Hamptons, Evan wears a lot of casual items, including shorts from J. Crew, Converse, Varvatos, Woolrich, Burkman Brothers and Tommy Hilfiger.
His jeans are Levi’s and Zara. Many of his shirts are from Steven Alan.
When an occasion calls for a tie, Evan wears a regular or bow tie from Club Monaco or Bergdorf Goodman.
His sports jackets are from Club Monaco, Topshop, Paul Smith and Richard James.
Evan’s high-end suits include Ralph Lauren.
The character often wears hats from Zara, Paul Smith and Block Headwear.
He has low-rise Converse in every color, though Costanzo can’t tell; he is colorblind.
“It is all schematic, very, very planned,” Costanzo says. “Caroline has done a lot of amazing things. In fact, I don’t look at my outfits most of the time. I just put them on and go.”
“He is definitely a boldly dressed man,” Costanzo says. “Evan likes to be noticed for many reasons. He is, at his core, a pretty insecure kid. His mom died young; his father abandoned him. He followed his brother around for a while and developed a chameleonlike ability, and that followed him at end of the day. He is a scared little boy, and that wants to be acknowledged.
“I actually find him to be a sad character,” Costanzo continues. “With Paige (Brooke D’Orsay) this year, he has found what he thinks is the girl of his dreams. I can identify with me finding a woman who was better than me and tap-dance around what she would want. He is a sweet, funny, caring guy. He went to Rutgers and is an accountant, a very good accountant.”
And very well-dressed.
