kate walsh bad judge gi Fall TV 2014: NBC adds comedies 'Bad Judge,' 'Mission Control' and 'One Big Happy'NBC has added three more new comedies to its roster for 2014-15, picking up “Bad Judge,” “Mission Control” and “One Big Happy” to series.

That makes five new comedies for the network for next season, as the latest trio joins previously ordered “A to Z” and “Marry Me.” NBC has also renewed “About a Boy” for a second season and “Parks and Recreation” for a seventh. Here’s a rundown:

“Bad Judge” stars Kate Walsh (“Fargo,” “Private Practice”) as the title character, a respected judge who lives an unapologetically wild life outside the coutroom. That may have to change, though, when she takes in an 8-year-old boy whose parents she put in jail. Chad Kultgen (“The Incredible Burt Wonderstone”) created the show and executive produces with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, via their Gary Sanchez Productions.

“Mission Control” also comes from Gary Sanchez and stars Krysten Ritter as Dr. Mary Kendricks, an aerospace engineer leading a NASA team during the 1960s space race. She’s butting up against an entrenched boys’ club that includes her new co-manager (Tommy Dewey), a former test pilot who initially mistakes Mary for a secretary. David Hornsby (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) wrote the pilot.

“One Big Happy” is NBC’s lone multi-camera comedy pickup thus far. It centers on long-time friends and roommates Lizzy (Elisha Cuthbert) and Luke (Nick Zano) — she’s gay, he’s straight — who decide to have a baby together. Complications arise in the form of Prudence (Kelly Brook), a woman Luke falls for instantly. The show comes from Liz Feldman (“2 Broke Girls”).
