fifty-shades-of-grey-cover-2.jpegErotica sensation “Fifty Shades of Grey” is now a porn movie. And film rights holders Universal Studios and literary rights holders Fifty Shades Ltd. are fighting mad about it.

They’ve filed a lawsuit against the hardcore “Fifty Shades” production asking for all digital and physical copies of the film to be destroyed, along with “Fifty Shades”-branded “novelty items” packaged with DVDs.

Porno rip-offs of mainstream entertainment are nothing new (everything from “Harry Potter” to “E.T.” has received the “adult movie” treatment in the past) and the already hot and bothered “Fifty Shades” trilogy would seem like a natural fit for enterprising porn producers. But Universal is developing a legitimate movie adaptation of their own and they claim the porn version doesn’t fit the usual “parody” standards that typically leave room for XXX-rated movies to put their own spin on other artists’ work.

“The first XXX adaptation is not a parody, and it does not comment on, criticize, or ridicule the originals. It is a rip-off, plain and simple,” the lawsuit (posted in entirety on Deadline) claims. The film apparently uses “exact dialogue, characters, events, story and style from the ‘Fifty Shades’ trilogy.”

Universal won film rights for over $3 million after a heated bidding war. As far as we know, porn company Smash Pictures paid nothing.
