connie britton fnl 320 'Friday Night Lights' star Connie Britton considers FX series; sorry, 'Prime Suspect'“Friday Night Lights” airs its series finale on Wednesday (Feb. 9), and though the show finished filming last summer, its two leads — Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler — have taken their time deciding what they want to do next.

Chandler is still unattached, but it appears Britton has found her next project. According to TVLine, Britton — an Emmy nominee for “FNL” last year — is working with “The Fighter” director David O. Russell on a drama project for FX. That’s about all the detail that’s available right now, as things sound as though they’re in the very early stages of development.

The project would be Britton’s first cable series and the first series for Russell as a creator (he was an executive producer of Syfy’s animated comedy “Outer Space Astronauts”).

Britton was said to be one of the more in-demand actresses this pilot season, and she’s on a lot of fans’ wishlists for NBC’s “Prime Suspect” remake. The FX project will presumably take her out of the running fro that or any other pilot currently in the pipeline.
