game of thrones ned stark flashback hbo 'Game of Thrones': A Ned Stark flashback scene might have already been filmedWarning: Spoilers ahead for the “A Song of Ice an Fire” novel “A Dance With Dragons,” as well as potential spoilers for the “Game of Thrones” TV series.

As proven in “Game of Thrones” Season 3, Bran Stark has the ability to see into the past and the future with his greenseeng power. Last year, that involved him having visions featuring his mother, Catelyn Stark, and brothers Robb Stark and Jon Snow.

Back in Season 4, episode 2, Bran catches a glimpse of his late father, Eddard Stark, in a vision. Is this a sign of things to come?
In the “A Song of Ice an Fire” novel “A Dance With Dragons,” Bran has a vision where he sees a younger version of his now-dead father speaking to a Weirwood Tree. There has been some speculation about whether “Game of Thrones” will bring back Sean Bean to play Ned Stark if Bran’s vision appears in the show. But apparently that might not be necessary, because Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran, says that scene has already been filmed.

“That was a scene from the pilot we shot, actually, and it never got used,” Hempstead-Wright tells Zap2it. “It was really cool.”

Perhaps showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss shot the scene with the intention of holding it for later seasons? “Maybe they will!” Hempstead-Wright agrees. “Maybe we didn’t use it for a reason and it was shot for some strange references 10 seasons later.”

Of course, it also could just be a coincidence. “A Dance With Dragons” was released on July 17, 2011 — after “Game of Thrones” Season 1 had already aired. But considering that author George R.R. Martin already told Benioff and Weiss how the series will end and there was that whole Night’s King reveal, he might have also told them to take advantage of their time with Bean while they had it.

“Game of Thrones” airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT Sundays on HBO.
