jack gleeson game of thrones haiti 'Game of Thrones' King Joffrey, Jack Gleeson, doing charity work in Haiti

“Game of Thrones'” Jack Gleeson, aka the very, very evil King Joffrey, isn’t a bad guy off the big screen. The 21-year-old actor just headed on a trip to Haiti to do some charity work with Irish aid agency GOAL.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Gleeson tells Ireland’s The Journal. “I’m well aware of the work that GOAL does and I’m interested to find out how they are continuing to support some of the people whose lives were destroyed by the earthquake of 2010.”

Gleeson’s uncle Tim is a doctor who previously worked with GOAL in countries like India, Ethiopia and Somalia. The projects Gleeson will take part in include repairing homes damaged by the 2010 earthquake, improving schools’ water, sanitation and hygiene services, supporting cholera prevention and visiting families that have been given new homes and started new businesses with GOAL’s help.

That’s not all Gleeson will be doing to support GOAL. On Nov. 8, he’ll attend the USA Benefit Ball in New York City as a special guest at the event whose proceeds will go to benefit GOAL. So, the next time you see Gleeson and want to yell at him for killing Ros or torturing Sansa, maybe thank him instead for all the work he’s doing the world.

“Game of Thrones” returns to HBO in Spring 2014.
