game of thrones missendei nathalie emmanuel season 5 'Game of Thrones' Season 5 to ramp up Daenerys' story

“Game of Thrones” Season 4 is still two months away from premiering, but already a good deal of forward momentum has been made on Season 5. Two current recurring cast members have been upped to series regulars in the forthcoming season, which is expected to be greenlit but has not yet been confirmed by HBO.

In addition to Michiel Huisman‘s Daario Naharis having an increased presence in Season 5, Entertainment Weekly reports that Nathalie Emmanuel will become a series regular in the 2015 season for her role as Missendei. Like Daario, Missendei is a character integral to Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) storyline.

So what does this mean for Season 4? Well, it seems safe to assume that Daario and Missendei won’t be two characters getting axed in Season 4. For that matter, Dany likely isn’t going to die anytime soon either, considering these two characters are in her Slaver’s Cities posse. But the actual implication of these promotions is much more exciting for all you Khaleesi-lovers out there: Daenerys’ storyline is going to be a big part of Season 5.

Though Dany has been a major presence in “Game of Thrones'” first three seasons, oftentimes her story has been overshadowed by the politics in King’s Landing or the drama up at the Wall. With Dany now having a bigger group of regular followers, it seems likely the Mother of Dragons will find her storyline being more of a focus point going forward. Besides, goodness knows which other major characters will get killed off in the next season to make her one of the few left standing (still missing you, Robb Stark).

Even if Daenerys & Co. don’t get a major boost in screen time, the fact that Emmanuel and Huisman are getting promotions at least means that Dany’s storyline will be a big part of “Game of Thrones” going forward. Season 4 premieres April 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
