george obama George W. Bush declines President Obama's Ground Zero invitation

Former president George W. Bush has declined President Barack Obama’s invitation to join him at Ground Zero on Thursday, May 5, Reuters reports. President Obama is heading to New York City to meet with the families of 9/11 victims.
Bush’s spokesperson David Sherzer says Bush appreciated the invitation but “has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight.” Sherzer also says Bush will continue to celebrate this victory in the war on terror.
Ground Zero has become a rallying site for Americans after President Obama announced the death of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on Sunday, May 1. Obama called Bush that night to inform him of the news before making the announcement to the American public.
After Obama announced bin Laden’s death, Bush released a statement, saying, “The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.”
