glee eps 320 'Glee': Ryan Murphy teases 'big artist' for Super Bowl episodeFOX gave “Glee” the post-Super Bowl timeslot for the coming season, and the show wants to do something special for what will likely be its biggest audience to date.

So says co-creator Ryan Murphy, who in the video below shares further details about Season 2 — including that the show is considering a post-Super Bowl episode along the lines of the Madonna or Lady Gaga installments from last season. Only this time the featured artist will be male, presumably the better to entice the millions of dudes watching the Super Bowl to stick around after the game.

“We don’t want to do very many [theme episodes],” Murphy says. “… But for after the Super Bowl, we’re doing a big artist who we’re in negotiations with.”

Alas, Murphy wouldn’t say anything more than that — though we could think of a few guys who might be good. (Also: Bruce Springsteen, maybe? Just thinking out loud here.)

Murphy also says that while “Glee” is working on a Britney Spears-themed episode, it won’t be done “as you’d think” it would.

The show’s creators are also excited about the forthcoming talent search series that will air on Oxygen and pick a new cast member for Season 3 — one for which quite a few people have already submitted audition tapes. “It’s just crazy, wonderful and great,” co-creator Ian Brennan says. The amount of time people put in … it’s really cool. I thought [the submissions] would be more rough around the edges. It’s really impressive.”

Those attending the “Glee” session at Comic-Con might get a sneak peek at some of the auditions, Murphy says.

“Glee” begins its second season on Sept. 21. Here’s more of what Murphy, Brennan and co-creator Brad Falchuk had to say.
