This might be the best thing we have ever seen. Christian indie band Relevant Reverence has taken Rebecca Black‘s inane viral hit “Friday” and given it the God treatment, calling it “Good Friday.” Just in time for Holy Week, too!
The song itself is hilarious, including such awesome lyrics as “Judas betrayed me for some bling,” “Which cross should I take?” and “Gotta do it daddy’s way, be the passover lamb.”
But what really makes the video is what the the artist says before the song starts, in reference to getting people into Christian music: “My solution has always been to take the greatest art in that secular world and hide scripture within it. So singing these songs that they think they’re familiar with, you can just dupe them into being converted.”
Now – far be it from us to speak for Jesus, but we don’t think he necessarily wanted to “dupe” people into following him.
