lady antebellum getty 520 Grammys 2011: Teddy Pendergrass tribute from Lady AntebellumSoul singer Teddy Pendergrass, who passed away a year ago, was paid tribute in a “medley” by Lady Antebellum, though maybe they could’ve given a bit more time to Teddy’s songs. The medley kicked off with what is probably Teddy’s most recognizable hit, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” then moved into Lady A’s hits “American Honey” and “Need You Now.”

Teddy Pendergrass had other great hits and we thought the tribute was going to perhaps include also include his 1978 hit “Close the Door” in 1978 or his 1988 hit “Joy.” Pendergrass was a five-time Grammy nominee, though he never won.

Immediately following the performance, Lady Antebellum won Best Country Album for “Need You Now.” Congratulations to the country trio. We’ll post video of the performance as soon as we have it.
