hangover tattoos 'Hangover: Part II': Judge denies tattoo artist's bid to block releaseIn news that will no doubt put a smile on the face of many a film fan, a judge has ruled that “The Hangover: Part II” can go ahead with its scheduled Thursday (May 26) release. A tattoo artist who is suing Warner Bros. for allegedly copying the Mike Tyson-style tattoo on Ed Helms’ face in the movie had asked that the release be blocked pending acknowledgement of what he termed “copyright infringement.”

In the sequel, Helms sports a tattoo almost identical to the real-life tribal style tattoo over Tyson’s left eye.

“We are very gratified by the Court’s decision which will allow the highly anticipated film, ‘The Hangover Part II’ to be released on schedule this week around the world.  Plaintiff’s failed attempt to enjoin the film in order to try and extract a massive settlement payment from Warner Bros. was highly inappropriate and unwarranted,” Warner Bros. said in a statement.

Tyson himself has made no comment on the entire matter.

We’ll see you at the movies on Thursday.
