happy endings season 3 finale renewed season 4 abc 'Happy Endings' Season 4 won't happen: Series is officially deadTime for some not-so ah-maz-ing news: “Happy Endings” is officially dead.

Sony Pictures TV’s quest to find an adoptive home for the orphaned, and underrated, comedy after ABC abandoned it in a dumpster this May has come to an end. Deadline reports that the cast’s contract options expire over the weekend of June 29-30, as the month ends, and with no real option in sight, Sony has no choice but to let them.

That’s not to say that valiant attempts weren’t made to find the quirky little comedy a new network to call home and reach the 100-episode syndication mark. There was early talk that USA, which is entering the half-hour comedy fray this fall with its acquisition of “Modern Family,” was interested in snatching “Happy Endings” up in a similar fashion to TBS’ rescue of fellow ABC cast-off “Cougar Town.” Those talks quickly ceased when the network chose to focus on developing original comedies.

There were never really another network in serious consideration to acquire the show, but TBS and (oddly) NBC were rumored to have given it a passing thought. In the end, those proved to just that — rumors.

So now, “Happy Endings” must defy its name and force fans to accept the unhappiest ending of all — official cancellation.

Are you bummed “Happy Endings” couldn’t find a new home or had you already moved on?
