The Oct. 5 episode of “Happy Endings” showcases the many ways in which the group isn’t  properly equipped to handle children — though Jane (Eliza Coupe) may already have one.

While hearing about Max’s (Adam Pally) secondary (only?) income as a sperm donor, Jane reveals she made a deposit to the egg bank in college — and someone may have gotten good use out of it.

“There’s a possibility,” Coupe told Zap2it when we recently visited her on set. “Jane sort of has a kid.”

For Coupe, this revelation seems par for the course. “Jane has a little bit of a checkered past, as we’ve come to learn,” she says, “so I think we’re going to find some interesting things about her that will hopefully be revealed just when she’s drinking.”

And as we learned in Season 1, Jane speaks like a creole riverboat captain when she drinks, so consider us on board.

As for last season, Coupe says that everyone has upped their game from the first outing. “I feel like we had a really nice dress rehearsal for the real deal,” she says. “By the end of the first season, I feel like everyone was buddies.”

That off-screen chemistry recently translated to a live improv show at the Los Angeles outpost of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, where Coupe performed an original tribute song to the show, dressed as Claire Danes… dressed as Temple Grandin.

“I wrote that in like five minutes,” she says. “I ripped off my own one-person show with the actual tune that I did. It’s actually Frente’s ‘Labor of Love,’ but then I changed the words — and then I changed them again.”

Sadly, Coupe has no formal plans for releasing the song, though she is thinking about performing it again. “I do plan to do it again, I’m thinking of doing it on a talk show at some point,” she says. “I think it would be fun to do it, but I don’t want to offend anyone.”

Her Temple Grandin getup had us hoping it might make an appearance during the Halloween episode — the Oct. 26 outing, “Spooky Endings” — but Coupe says Jane’s actual costume will be a bit more bizarre.

“Buckle up for that outfit,” she says. “We do not see my body. We just see my face for the entire episode.”
