“HawthoRNe,” TNT’s medical drama about nurses starring Jada Pinkett Smith, is aiming to improve lives beyond the TV screen.
In the first ever partnership between Facebook Causes and a TV show, “HawthoRNe” is raising an amazing amount of money for the American Red Cross. Already, the show has reached its matching grant of $10,000.
“When any disaster strikes,” Vanessa Lengies, who plays Kelly on the show, tells Zap2it. “You know the Red Cross is going to be there. It’s such a consistent, reliable source of help for people everywhere. That we could be a part of raising money for a good cause – I feel really lucky to be a part of that.”

For every person that joins, the show donates $1.00 to the American Red
Cross. You can also make monetary donations that go directly to the
organization, so that it can continue its work in disaster-stricken
“For the people who can’t donate money, they just have
to show their support and money gets donated,” says Lengies. “And those
numbers will add up.”
