At the end of Wednesday’s (Sept. 3) “Colbert Report,” host Stephen Colbert turned to fictional President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) of Netflix’s “House of Cards” for advice on ISIS situation in the Middle East, but it’s more just a fun send-up of Spacey’s iconic character.

“A dog doesn’t need to show his teeth as long as his growl’s deep enough, his food bowl is full and he knows where all the bones are buried,” says Underwood, to which Colbert says, “Wow. I have no f***ing idea what that means, but I’ll tell you – that was menacingly homespun, sir.”

Then when Colbert says maybe he’ll head for Washington D.C. to get involved in politics after “The Colbert Report” is over, Underwood says he’ll take Colbert under his wing — “Just take the last train down, I’ll meet you on the edge of the platform. … For reasons of security, if anyone asks where you’re going, just say ‘to commit suicide.'”

“House of Cards” returns for Season 3 on Netflix in early 2015.
