grinch movie 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas': Which version do you prefer?Considering this is the time of year when you can watch Christmas movies without ridicule (we can’t be the only ones who have gotten crap for popping in a DVD of “Elf” in August), it seems an appropriate time to settle a Christmas movie-related argument.

We all know that both versions of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” were based on the 1957 illustrated children’s story by Dr. Seuss. Though the book essentially skewers the commercialization of the holiday, the grouchy green guy has still managed to weasel his way into our collective Christmas culture.

The animated movie version of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is an undisputed holiday classic, as multiple generations have now grown up with the cartoon since it came out in 1966. But the 2000 version, starring Jim Carrey, put a live-action spin on the whole thing.

To be honest, we’re all most inclined to like the version we saw first, thus making the animated film win by default. But now that the live-action movie is 11 years old (yikes!), a whole group of kids has grown up with that version, too — so we can’t count it out. You tell us: Which version of the movie do you prefer, and why? Should we give the Ron Howard-directed 2000 film another shot?
