Jack the cat, the traveling feline who escaped his carrier at John F. Kennedy International Airport at the end of August, has been found alive in the airport. American Airlines posted the following update to Facebook:
“American Airlines is happy to announce that Jack the Cat has been found
at JFK airport. American’s team of airport employees have been focused
on the search effort since Jack escaped on August 25, 2011. Jack was
found in the customs room and was immediately taken by team members to a
As Jack has been on his own for two months, we have now learned that he
will need to remain in the care of a veterinarian for an additional

A Facebook group set up to monitor news on Jack says he “ ” They also say that the vet gives Jack a 50/50 chance. We hope that improves over the next few days.
The same Facebook group has also been working hard to find homes for various cats that are on shelter euthanize lists. It sounds like they’ve been very successful, so that’s another happy story to come out of Jack’s ordeal.
