supernatural season 9 finale jared jensen Jared Padalecki cried when he read the 'Supernatural' Season 9 finale“Supernatural” star Jared Padalecki cried when he read the script for Tuesday’s (May 20) Season 9 finale of his CW hit. It’s true! He admitted as much to Zap2it on the red carpet at the network’s upfront presentation in New York City.

“As an actor and as a fan of ‘Supernatural,’ when I read the script I cried,” Padalecki says. “That sounds cheesy, but literally I read the script and was like, ‘It’s getting a little dusty in here!’ Made sure no one was looking.”

In fact, Padalecki says the finale is some of the best work the cast and crew have done on the show. “I got to watch a little bit of it when I was [re-recording some dialogue], and I’m really proud of the work that everybody did. I’m not talking about myself, I’m talking about Jensen, me, Misha, Mark, everybody.”

When you watch, you’ll want to pay special attention to the very end of the episode. “Don’t miss the final 30 seconds of the finale, because it certainly sets up what’s going to happen with Season 10,” Padalecki says. You’ll be “awestruck” at what happens — “immediate excitement and wonder,” he says.

But, on the flipside, the wait for more episodes will be even more difficult than usual. “When I read it I was so excited and immediately, unfortunately, more questions. What’s this mean? Where are they going to go? What are they going to do?”

Co-star Misha Collins wasn’t able to spill much about the episode, but just wants you to know that “the end is shocking. It really is,” he says. “There are some problems that emerge at the end of Season 9. I think the audience is going to kind of freak out when they see the very end of the finale. And then they have to wait. It’s mean. I don’t know why they have to do that. It’s cruel.”

The “Supernatural” Season 9 finale airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT Tuesday on The CW.
