Jason and Jarron Collins appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Thursday (May 16), where they talked about Jason’s recent coming out, as the first openly gay player active in one of the four major sports.

First, the twins tell the rather amusing story of when Jason came out to his brother.

“We don’t have a serious tone to our conversations, so I was like, ‘Jarron, I need to talk to you about something serious,'” says Jason.

“He put the bass in the voice, so I was like, ‘OK, he’s got something serious.’ … he was very direct about it. I heard it, but it didn’t quite register and I went about asking some of the dumbest questions you could possibly ask,” says Jarron, then says the questions included “Are you sure?” and “Since when?”

Later, Kimmel wonders how it will go with the NBA next season and Jarron says that “when the first joke gets made and Jason laughs at it, the ice will be broken.”

So Kimmel cracks, “We’re gonna start in the shower and we’re gonna work from there. This is gonna be fantastic … I’m gonna be gay with you on this thing. We are gonna handle this together.”

He also gives Jarron a t-shirt that says ,”I’m the straight one.” Hee.
