jay leno julianne moore Jay Leno, Julianne Moore are Hasty Pudding's man and woman of the yearThe last year-plus has not been the best of times for Jay Leno, at least not from a publicity standpoint. But the “Tonight Show” host is getting some love from the gentlemen and women of Harvard.

Leno and “The Kids Are All Right” star Julianne Moore have been named the 2011 man and woman of the year by Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the oldest collegiate theatrical group in the country. Moore will be honored on Jan. 27 and Leno on Feb. 4; both ceremonies include a roast of the honoree and other Harvard-like shenanigans.

Moore and Leno join a list of honorees that includes Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and many others; last year the society bestowed its awards on Anne Hathaway and Justin Timberlake.

Leno, the Pudding people say, is being honored for being a “television icon and dedicated live performer who has entertained millions of people over his long and accomplished career in comedy.” The society calls Moore “an actress of exceptional range” who “has delivered outstanding work in both box office hits and independent features.”

Harvard, incidentally, is the alma mater of Conan O’Brien, but he was a Lampoon man, not a Hasty Pudding guy.
