jay leno jimmy fallon jimmy kimmel tonight show gi Jimmy Kimmel talks Jay Leno leaving 'Tonight Show': 'Makes perfect sense'

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has never really been one to shy away from his distaste for “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno. During the feud between NBC and Conan O’Brien, Kimmel appeared on Leno’s prime time show, mocking the host via satellite. He also opened an episode of his own show during that time wearing prosthetic chin, doing a Leno impersonation for his monologue.
As recently as February, Kimmel said in a Playboy interview that he doesn’t believe Leno has “actual feelings, and he doesn’t seem to be that worried about other people’s feelings.” With all of that in mind, Kimmel appeared on CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper” to talk about the next supposed late night shakeup, which follows the last, failed late night shakeup.
With Kimmel’s program now going head-to-head with “The Tonight Show,” he hopes his show is at least partially responsible for the change in hosts, with Jimmy Fallon expected to take over NBC’s flagship talk show. Jimmy believe the change “makes perfect sense,” seeing as the network tried to do it once before. Kimmel’s feelings toward Leno aren’t all negative, though. He still considers Jay one of “the great comedians,” though he thinks it’s fair to say the host dumbs down his material for the show.
Leno has yet to address his possibly leaving “The Tonight Show,” but jokes at NBC’s expense have become a regular part of his nightly monologue.
