john mcafee murder John McAfee, anti virus software creator, wanted for murder in Belize

Pretty much everyone who’s ever owned a computer should know the name McAfee, but what about the man behind the anti-virus software? It turns out John McAfee has been living down in Belize, and is currently the number one murder suspect for his neighbor, American ex-patriot Gregory Faull.

Faull, 52, was found dead on Sunday (Nov. 11), though his death was said to have occurred Saturday night. According to police, he was lying face up in a pool of blood with one gunshot wound to the back of his head. There was a single Luger brand 9mm bullet shell found at the scene.

Police suspected McAfee for the murder reportedly because his half-dozen dogs were poisoned Friday night. Though the person responsible for that hasn’t been discovered, Faull had allegedly filed a formal complaint about the dogs’ barking to the mayor of San Pedro last week. In a new interview with Wired, McAfee said he knows “nothing” about Faull’s death “other than I heard he’d been shot.” However, he still hid from police when they came from him because “they will kill me if they find me.”

To avoid the police when they raided his house Sunday, McAfee buried himself in the sand with a cardboard box over his head. He tells Wired that he is currently on the run from police, but has no plans to leave the country.

“Under no circumstances am I going to willingly talk to the police in this country,” he says. “You can say I’m paranoid about it but they will kill me, there is no question. They’ve been trying to get me for months. They want to silence me. I am not well liked by the prime minister. I am just a thorn in everybody’s side.”
