jon bon jovi robbed gi Jon Bon Jovi gives love a good name; Rocker opens charity restaurant in N.J.Jon Bon Jovi has been a lot of things: rocker, actor and model. Now he can add another item to his list – community good guy.

Bon Jovi has opened a restaurant in Red Bank, N.J. that allows people who are struggling financially to get a solid meal and pay what they can. And if they cannot afford it, they can volunteer at the restaurant.

“With the economic downturn, one of the things I noticed was that disposable income was one of the first things that went,” Bon Jovi tells the AP. “When I learned that one in six people in this country goes to bed hungry, I thought this was the next phase of the (Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation’s) work.”

The one other key component of the restaurant is that the food is healthy, serving up dishes like grilled chicken, salmon and catfish on their opening night on Oct. 19.

“This is not a soup kitchen,” he says. “You can come here with the dignity of linens and silver, and you’re served a healthy, nutritious meal. This is not burgers and fries.”

As a famed New Jersey rocker once sang, “Keep the Faith.”
