jose canseco tweets rape charge gi Jose Canseco claims rape charge on Twitter, names possible accuserThere’s little that former Major League Baseball player Jose Canseco keeps to himself anymore. His Twitter account has been noted in the past for some of the stranger thoughts he’s shared (like “Titanic 100 years wOw. Global warming couldve saved titanic. Sad to say.”), and his Reddit AMA session led to mother jokes and a confession that he had a threesome with Jim Carrey.

However, Canseco’s tweets on Wednesday (May 22) take sharing to a whole new level. The following message from Canseco’s Twitter account are presented as written, spelling errors and all. The alleged accuser’s name has been removed. He kicked off the morning with a tweet reading, “Breaking news this is a first folks las vegas police was just at my house i have been charged with rape by a [name redacted] from las vegas.” From there, he went on to say, “All media welcome to this drama filled event. Did i rape [name redacted] or is she lieing. Stay tuned to another day in the life of Jose Canseco.”
Canseco then offered to take a polygraph test, before writing, “[Name redacted] told police that i druged and then raped her. hmmmmm. lets find out what really happened.” He then posted a photo of a woman in a bikini who he says is his accuser.
Canseco also tweeted a phone number, writing, “this is [name redacted] number call her media ask her if she will take a polygraph. lol” Canseco says he is willing to take a lie detector test on national television and gives out the address of a Las Vegas gym, where he claims the accuser works.

Las Vegas district attorney spokesperson Tess Driver tells Buzzfeed that her office has not formally filed charges against Canseco. “From [his tweets], it sounds like Metro [Police] just went to his house to question him,” she says, “So, they are probably just in the investigation stage at this point.”
Canseco has since deleted all of the tweets referring to the incident from his account. He wasn’t arrested, and is in fact on his way to Texas for a baseball game.
