Former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi is the most recent celebrity to be profiled by an E! “True Hollywood Story” special. In this segment, Kara talks about how out of place she felt at Duke University and how food started to be her drug of choice.

“It probably wasn’t the best school for me because I was creative. It’s very ‘My father’s a doctor, I’m gonna be a doctor. My father’s a lawyer, I’m gonna be a lawyer’ kind of place,” says DioGuardi. “I was really struggling with that. I thought I wanted to be a lawyer because I felt like that was a very respectable career.”

“I’d been denying that I was creative and not really singing that much … food became my crutch,” she continues “I started to get depressed and the food became sort of my drug of choice. It numbed me out.”

Kara’s “True Hollywood Story” premiered Wednesday night (Oct. 26), but you can find all the rebroadcast times here.
