Kate Gosselin and her 13-year-old twin girls Cara and Mady went on the “Today” show on Thursday (Jan. 16), and boy, was it awkward.

Poor Savannah Guthrie tried her hardest to draw some comments out of the twin girls, who were there to comment on what it was like to grow up on camera, but neither girl felt like playing along.

Their mom tried to get them to speak, saying, “It’s your chance, spit it out,” but they still remained silent. Kate continues, “I don’t want to speak for them but, Mady, go ahead. Sort of the things that you said in [People] magazine, that years later they’re good, they’re fine. Go for it, it’s your chance.”

“No,” Mady says, apparently forgetting she was on live TV, adding, “You just said it.”

Mady eventually perks up and starts speaking, but Cara remains steadfast in her silence. Someone clearly did not want to be there. Jon Gosselin is somewhere smiling over the way his daughters’ actions seem to back up his claims about their mother.

Check out the awkward interview above and let us know if you’re feeling as sorry for Savannah Guthrie for having to deal with that as we are.
