katherine heigl nbc pilot Katherine Heigl's TV comeback project lands at NBCFormer “Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl will play a CIA analyst in a drama project that has found a home at NBC.

Heigl, who left “Grey’s” in early 2010, will star in and serve as an executive producer of the untitled drama, which Alexi Hawley (“The Following,” “Castle”) is writing. She’ll play a CIA officer whose job is to deliver daily briefings to the president; the show will also delve into her character’s personal life.

NBC expressed interest in the show early on and has given the show a put pilot commitment (meaning the network agrees to pay a fee if the pilot doesn’t air).

“The story is not only compelling and intelligent but a look behind the curtain at the CIA we haven’t seen before in film or television,” Heigl says in a statement. “I am thrilled and honored to have been asked to be a part of developing these stories and this character and bringing it all to life.”

Among the show’s other exec producers are Henry Crumpton and Rodney Faraon, former CIA officers who founded a production company called Aardwolf Creative last year.
