When the world first met Katherine Webb, she appeared out of nowhere. It was during the Notre Dame-Alabama BCS Championship football game in January, when she made it on camera as quarterback A.J. McCarron’s girlfriend. From there she popped up on the celebrity diving show “Splash,” found her way into the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and was even offered a job by Donald Trump. That last part is strange, as he usually seems content threatening to sue people.
Now she’s making headlines for a different reason: her diet. In an interview with People, Webb reveals her diet and exercise routine. The 5’11” model says she eats about 1,120 calories a day, while hitting the gym at least three times a week. She says an average food day for her consists of a smoothie for breakfast, spinach salad with almonds and strawberries for lunch and grilled chicken fingers with sweet potato fries for dinner. Add in a couple snacks to her day, things like a green apple or a frozen yogurt bar, and you get the idea.
Sometimes Katherine takes her diet a little more extreme, like when she’s preparing for a pageant. “I cut out any type of bread product, and cake, cookies, bagels,” she explains, “When I eat a lot of sugar, I tend to bloat more.”
Like anyone, she does have cheat meals now and then. “I usually go for all-American buffalo wings and French fries,” she says.
Is her diet healthy, though? Nutritionist Haylie Pomroy tells the magazine that while Katherine’s meals and snacks are great at fueling her metabolism, “she could add at least 600 more healthy calories,” even without her workout schedule.
For a woman Katherine’s height, a “healthy weight” falls between 133 and 179 pounds, based on the person’s frame, according to WebMD. By running the lowest healthy weight, 133 pounds, through a calorie calculator, like the one offered by the Mayo Clinic, you’ll find that with an inactive lifestyle, 1,750 calories are needed to maintain weight. For an active lifestyle, such as Webb’s, the number jumps to 2,100 calories, nearly 1,000 calories more than she takes in.
