keith olbermann returns Keith Olbermann returns to MSNBC's 'Countdown' with no regretsFresh off of his four-day suspension from MSNBC’s “Countdown”, Keith Olbermann returned to his post. Defying the expectations of many, Olbermann did not make any apologies for contributing to the campaigns of three Democratic candidates before midterm elections.

In fact, Olbermann started off the show by poking fun at the situation as the cameras opened on an empty desk. “Oh. Hi. What’s new?” he said wryly as he strolled on-screen.

NBC News rules prohibits political activism unless employees have special permission, but Olbermann chose not to apologize for his donations to the democratic party. Instead, he said that he regretted that the suspension disrupted the show, and he took a moment to correct a few misconceptions.

First of all, he wanted to make it clear that the suspension was not a ratings ploy or a publicity stunt. He joked, “Of course, if I had known this would happen, I would have done this years ago.”

He went on to correct reports that he donated to Raul Grijalva before Grijalva appeared on “Countdown.”
Olbermann said he actually donated later that night, after conducting the interview with Grijalva.

Olbermann went on to thank other reporters like Rachel Maddow for their support, but admonished Politico for investigating his donations and judging him for them.
