The 2013 Kennedy Center Honors recognized some of the most beloved icons in the arts. Billy Joel, Shirley MacLaine, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock and opera star Martina Arroyo were all given tributes by the younger generation of Hollywood.

First up from Sunday’s (Dec. 29) broadcast is Anna Kendrick, who gave an epic performance in honor of MacLaine. Everyone else is as excited to see her in “Into The Woods” as we are, right?

Garth Brooks is one of two who performed in honor of Joel. Brooks sang both “Allentown” and “Goodnight Saigon” …

… while Rufus Wainwright performed “New York State of Mind” and “Piano Man.”

The night was kicked off with a tribute to Santana from Steve Winwood and Sheila E. Make sure you watch all the way to the end.

Meanwhile, Buddy Guy playing “I’m Your Hoochie Coochie Man” was also a Santata highlight of the night.

What was your favorite performance of the night?
