While you might not think it based on the trailers, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” has quite a bit in common with “Felicity,” which used to air on The WB. Keri Russell, who stars in both, is the most obvious connection, but it goes deeper than that.
During an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Russell explains, “Matt Reeves, who was co-creator of ‘Felicity’ with J.J. Abrams, was directing this movie and called me. All three of us are still very close and we’ve been trying to find something to do together, I did not think it would be ‘Planet of the Apes.'”
Having someone so involved in the creation of “Felicity” also helps give the movie a very different feel than most blockbusters, Russell thinks. “Even though it is this giant, big, slick 3D extravaganza,” she says, “it was Matt and Matt’s sort of sensitivity and sense of character.”

Chris E. Hayner is equal parts nerd, crazy person and coffee. He watches too much TV, knows more about pro wrestling than you do and remembers every single show from the TGIF lineup. You may have seen him as a pro-shark protester in "Sharknado 3." His eventual memoir will be called "You're Wrong, Here's Why..." TV words to live by: "I'm a firm believer that sometimes it's right to do the wrong thing."
