During an interview with Oprah Winfrey today, cyclist Lance Armstrong admitted to blood doping, according to an anonymous source who spoke with the Associated Press. Armstrong taped the interview Monday shortly after addressing the staff at the Livestrong Foundation and apologizing for what he’s put them through over the last year.
Saturday, Armstrong said that he welcomes any questions and would answer them, “directly, honestly, and candidly.” After the interview, Winfrey tweeted, “Just wrapped with @lancearmstrong. More than 2 1/2 hours. He came READY!” The interview is scheduled to air Thursday on “Oprah’s Next Chapter.”
Armstrong has always denied charges of using banned drugs during his cycling career. Last year, after dropping his fight with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, Armstrong was stripped of his 7 Tour de France titles.
