lachlan patterson last comic standing nbc 'Last Comic Standing': Finalist Lachlan Patterson is too handsome according to Keenen Ivory Wayans

“Two guys are about to be hung for treason. They put sacks over their heads and nooses around their necks. One guys starts laughing uncontrollably. And the other says, ‘shhh! You’re going to get us in trouble.'”
Lachlan Patterson shares the first joke he ever learned, at 14. Now 39, he’s learned a few since to make it to a finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” which has its season finale Thursday, Aug. 14.
“Those are still my favorite jokes — the silly,” he tells Zap2it. “The business wants us to work around life and struggles. I like that. It’s important to leave the stage and for people to know you. I feel like comedy is also therapy.”
Yet growing up in Vancouver, Patterson had a pretty angst-free life.

“My points of views are kind of a little more light-hearted,” he says.
Patterson is so handsome that judge Keenen Ivory Wayans said he looks like a mannequin. Patterson immediately purloins that for his act. He comes from a very funny family, crediting his father for telling great jokes and having an innate sense of timing.

Patterson decided to try to be a stand-up when he was 19 and doing a series of odd jobs, some very odd. He parked cars and delivered flowers. The first bell he rang to present an old woman with flowers, he smiled and said, “Congratulations!” She responded that she has cancer.
He was also a bartender, a waiter and did construction work and landscaping. He hauled away people’s garbage because he had a truck.
Now, he’s hoping to capture the title and be the last comic standing. After, Patterson wants to act.
“If I am going to be successful as an actor,” Patterson says. “I am going to have to be involved in the writing.”
