amanda knox hayden eb 235 Lifetime to update Amanda Knox movieLifetime’s made-for-TV movie, “Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy,” starring Hayden Panettiere, first aired in February 2011. At that point, Knox — an American student studying in Italy — and her boyfriend had been convicted of stabbing her roommate, Meredith Kirchner, and sentenced to 26 years in an Italian prison.

At the time, according to NBC, Knox’s family protested the network’s decision to air the movie, saying it could affect an on-going appeal in the case. On Monday (Oct. 3), Knox’s guilty verdict was overturned — she was acquitted of the charges and is already headed home to the U.S.

Now Lifetime plans to update the movie, which is now slated to re-air on Tuesday evening. But don’t expect an alternate ending. Instead, the network announced that it will bookend the movie with several sentences of text updating viewers on the case.

Is this fair to Knox? Should Lifetime scrap plans to re-broadcast the movie or are you content with a text update superimposed at the beginning and end?
