“Game of Thrones” could have gotten a bit meta in the casting of the Greyjoy family. Alfie Allen plays Theon Greyjoy (currently going by the identity “Reek”), and apparently the show’s producers reached out to his famous older sister, singer Lily Allen, to play the part of his onscreen sister Yara.

“I’ve been asked to do a ‘Game of Thrones’ cameo, they asked me if I’d be interested in playing Theon’s sister,” Allen writes on a Reddit AMA. “I felt uncomfortable because they told me I would have had to go on a horse and he would have touched me up and s***. Once they told me what was entailed, I said no thanks.”

That doesn’t mean she’s written off a cameo for good, though. “I would be open to doing a musical cameo like Sigur Ros,” she says. “Email George R.R. Martin, get it sorted out.”
The role of Yara eventually went to Gemma Whelan. She’s given consistently great performances in the limited screentime she receives, so clearly it was a good casting decision.

When Zap2it spoke to Alfie prior to Season 4’s premiere, he admitted he would like to act opposite his older sister. “If they paid her enough money, yeah!” he said at the time. “Then I think, then yeah, she would definitely do it. But I don’t think they would want that. But we’ll see what happens. … Hopefully. Just make it a family affair. Why not?”

As for Lily Allen, she has one regret now that her baby brother has risen to fame.

“Maybe I wouldn’t write Alfie. Or I couldn’t call Alfie ‘Alfie,'” she admits of the hit song she wrote about her brother (below). “I think he was pretty annoyed, understandably, but I didn’t know it was going to be as successful as it was at the time of writing. And if I could take it back, I would.”

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
