lindsay lohan hearing getty Lindsay Lohan late for morgue community service, turned away

It is often said that the definition of insanity is repeating the same act and expecting different results. For actress-turned-legal lightning rod Lindsay Lohan, her repeated act is the constant dismissal of her probationary requirements. After being removed from court in handcuffs on Wednesday (Oct. 19), you would think Lindsay would have learned her lesson about foo-fooing the very specific demands of the court. You would think wrong…

TMZ is reporting that Lindsay Lohan was turned away from the L.A. County morgue when she showed up 40 minutes late for an 8:00 a.m. appointment; Lohan needs to complete 16 hours at the morgue as part of her court-assigned community service. Lindsay’s late arrival was met with rejection, as officials from the Coroner’s officer refused to let Lindsay begin her community service; the unfortunate incident will be reported to Judge Stephanie Sautner.

According to Lohan’s publicist, she missed her appointment “due to a combination of not knowing the entrance to go through and confusion caused by the media waiting for her arrival.” Word of advice, Lindsay? We got into some trouble once and here’s a rule of thumb we discovered works best: if the trip should take you 15 minutes, leave like 2 hours early. Seriously, with anything court appointed, you are best off erring on the side of EXTREME caution.

Lohan took the time to tweet a tepid apology: “With all of the stress and pressure from yesterday and today, I’ve never been so happy to go to therapy. Also, I’m sorry for the confusion that I may of [sic] cause to those at the Coroner’s office. Won’t happen again, now I know where to go!”

It remains to be seen if Twitter apologies hold up in court as a means to keep Lindsay from doing a year and half in prison for violation of probation.
