While reports have been swirling that Lindsay Lohan ditched her fellow cast and crew at the Venice Film Festival premiere of “The Canyons” Friday (August 30), Lindsay is clearing the air. The actress says she was never confirmed to attend and has other things to worry about.
In a message posted on her website, Lindsay writes, “Along with the positive messages and words of support of ‘The Canyons’ at VFF, I am sending my own to the cast, producers and the amazing Paul Schrader. I am so grateful for the extraordinary experience of being a part of this film. Unfortunately, I have to clear up these reports. I was never confirmed to attend.”
Lohan says while she wasn’t actually scheduled for the festival, she would have liked to take part. However, Lindsay adds, “my focus is on my health and well-being. Plain and simple, it is of the utmost importance.” That’s a good thought to hear from Lohan, who successfully completely court-ordered rehab on July 30.
Schrader, the movie’s director, tells a different story, though. While speaking at the festival, Schrader says that Lohan was supposed to be in attendance, but wasn’t, the New York Daily News reports. He also speaks candidly about working with Lindsay on the movie, saying, “For the last 16 months I’ve been held hostage, by my own choosing, to a very talented but unpredictable actress.” Sounds like a great time.
