tlc waterfalls remake lisa left eye lopes Lisa Lopes' family upset over TLC's 'Waterfalls' remake with Japanese pop starThe surviving members of 1990s girl group TLC, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chili” Thomas, have released a new version of “Waterfalls,” the group’s smash hit from 1995, to mark their 20th anniversary as a group. The two girls have added Japanese pop star Namie Amuro as the third singer on the track.

But the family of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, the original third member of TLC who was killed in a car accident in 2002, is a little upset about the new song.

Lopes’ sister Reigndrop tells TMZ, “I did not know about [the new version] until a fan posted it online. I mean, it would have been nice if they would have given [the family] a heads up before being surprised.”

Reigndrop adds that her mom is also hurt because she feels that keeping Lisa on the track would have honored her daughter’s memory. She does say that she’s OK with the remake — if it is only released in Japan.

So far there’s no word on whether it will be released in the U.S. or not.
