jen arnold little couple cancer remission ig 'Little Couple's' Jen Arnold's cancer is in remissionAfter undergoing chemotherapy for a rare type of cancer, Dr. Jennifer Arnold, the star of TLC’s “The Little Couple,” has some very exciting good news to share: Her cancer has gone into remission.

“I had my official last chemo treatment,” Arnold tells People. “And while I’m hesitant to say I’m cancer-free — maybe that’s common for people who have had cancer — I’m doing great. Everything is moving in the right direction. I am very excited.”

After revealing her cancer diagnosis in early December, Arnold began her chemotherapy treatment on December 26. She tells the magazine that her battle with the disease was a tough one.

“It actually got harder as more time went on,” she says. “Some weeks were more difficult than others with different side effects. I had a lot of fatigue and nausea and some days it just felt like my hands and feet were very heavy.

When her diagnosis was first revealed, Arnold hadn’t specified which type of cancer she had, but this new article clarifies that it was a stage 3 choriocarcinoma diagnosis, a rare cancer that occurred after she had a failed pregnancy.

Now that she’s in remission, her blood count will, initially, have to be monitored weekly to make sure that the cancer does not return. After several months, the tests will decrease to monthly and, eventually, yearly.

Arnold, who is a neonatologist at Texas Children’s Hospital, hasn’t returned to work full time yet, but is looking forward to slowly returning to her normal routine.

“Sometimes I get a little winded when I walk around more and I have that fuzzy chemo brain at times, but I am very excited and happy to be where I am right now,” she admits. “I want to get stuff done. I am anxious to get back to my normal self.”
