The series from “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry will premiere June 23, Lifetime says. It follows five housekeepers working for Beverly Hills and the relationships they have with each other and the families who employ them.

The series kicks off with the murder of a maid (Paula Garces) at the home of her employers. Her friends — series stars Judy Reyes, Roselyn Sanchez, Dania Ramirez and Edy Ganem — turn to one another for support. A new housekeeper (Ana Ortiz) also enters the picture and may have a connection to Flora’s death.

The series also stars Susan Lucci, Drew Van Acker (“Pretty Little Liars”), Grant Show, Mariana Kleveno, Brett Cullen, Brianna Brown, Matt Cedeno, Melinda Paige Hamilton, Rebecca Wisocky and Tom Irwin.

“Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria is one of the executive producers of “Devious Maids,” which is based on the Mexican telenovela “Ellas son la Alegria del Hogar.” It was first developed at ABC last year, but the network passed on it at the 2012 upfronts. Lifetime picked it up in June 2012 — almost a year to day before its now scheduled premiere.
