FX has announced a new comedy series, “Partners,” starring Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence, to premiere in Aug. 2014. The show will follow the 10/90 syndication model already used by “Anger Management” on the cable network.

“Partners” is the story of two very different Chicago lawyers who meet unexpectedly in court during a time of personal crisis for each man. Marcus Jackson (Lawrence) is a good-hearted guy and a community activist who also happens to be going through a heartbreaking divorce. Allen Braddock (Grammer), on the other hand, is a high-end, elitist lawyer who just got fired from his father’s firm.

Since both men are desperate, they end up creating a partnership and friendship in which each forces the other to find a healthy balance between ethics and unscrupulous practices in personal and professional lives.

Also starring Telma Hopkins, Rory O’Malley, McKaley Miller, Edi Patterson and Daniele Watts, “Partners” will premiere Monday, Aug. 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. FX will air back-to-back episodes of the comedy for its first five weeks. If the ratings are there, 90 more episodes will follow.
